The Museum

Eperon d’Or is a former shoe factory in Izegem and is currently in use as an industrial heritage site & museum. The building houses a shoe and brush museum as well as a regional visitors centre. The front building has been a protected monument since 1999. The factory buildings behind it have been on the architectural heritage list since 2009. The former shoe factory was founded in 1863 by Emiel Vandommele. Until World War II, the shoes were made by hand. The front building got ‘protected’ status as a monument in 1999 and was purchased by the City of Izegem in 2005. The museums, the regional house & the house of Economy that Eperon d’Or houses, opened their doors in June of 2017.
